In a Rush for work? Try This 20-Minute High-Protein Mushroom Toast🍄
Late mornings do not mean skipping breakfast.
This creamy mushroom toast is a perfect breakfast recipe when you need something quick to make and protein-packed before diving into the busy day ahead. It requires roughly 20 minutes and tastes sooooo.............. delicious

Ingredients (Serves 1)
1) Salted Butter: - 1 tbsp (divided)
2) Button mushrooms: - 4-5 medium sized (thinly sliced)
3) Onion :- 1 small (thinly sliced)
4) Garlic cloves :- 3-4 large (First smash them by flat side of knife and then finely chop)
5) All-purpose flour: - 1 tsp
6) Milk: - 100-150 ml
7) Chilli flakes, Oregano, Basil (dried), Black pepper, Salt :- According to your taste
8) Bread slices: - 2 (why not!!! we are famished)
STEP 1. Sauté the Mushrooms
Heat ½ tbsp butter in a pan.
Add finely chopped garlic and sauté until the kitchen smells warm and aromatic—look for a light golden hue (not brown).
Toss in onions and mushrooms. Add salt and chilli flakes.
Cook on medium heat until mushrooms release water and soften. You’ll know they’re ready when they look glossy, feel slightly squishy, and no longer taste raw.
Set aside.
STEP 2. Make the White Sauce
In the same pan, melt ½ tbsp butter.
Add flour and stir until it forms a smooth, pale-yellow paste. It should smell nutty—not burnt.
Pour in milk gradually, stirring continuously.
Add oregano, basil, black pepper, and salt. Cook until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon—creamy, not runny.
STEP 3. Combine & Assemble
Add the sautéed mushroom mixture into the white sauce. Stir and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through. The aroma should be herby, buttery, and slightly earthy.
Toast bread slices until golden brown. For extra flavor, spread a little butter before toasting.
Spoon the warm, creamy mushroom mix over the toast.
